Stone Dragon by Tom Kepler

I just finished The Stone Dragon and enjoyed it immensely. A mere few sentences cannot grasp the complexity, yet simplicity of this spiritual coming of age story, set in a magical, place where good has greater power than evil, but the path to that good is never easy. That’s life, isn’t it? – The struggle to understand its meaning and our purpose – but told here in a story to enchant and delight.  Kepler’s use of slightly archaic language and speech patterns create evocative images of a place the ‘might have been, long ago and far away’ where friendly gnomes and magic are real. But don’t be fooled. This is no child’s tale. It will challenge the reader to think about the power of thought and attitude and their effect on the place we forge for ourselves in our world.
